8 PM Walk

I like the longer July days where it is still light at 8 PM. It is warm, but not 100+ as it was earlier in the day. My old familiar trail has been my place of prayer and meditation.

Mar 1:35  And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
Mar 1:36  And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
Mar 1:37  And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

A landmark oak tree has fallen, being uprooted from much rain and wind. I had used this as a setting for portraits, the tree standing alone added strength to the pictures. Years of growth had the tree limbs twisted as they sought the light. It's bones now lay beside the path as a fallen reminder of it's greatness, reminding me of the bones of a dinosaur in a museum. It will grow no more.

Rev 2:4  Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Rev 2:5  Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

 An oak tree covered with lichens has endured many storms being in the protection of a dense forest of trees. Lichens are formed by a combination of algae and fungi. They are a food source for deer. Some lichens are used in making antibiotics.

A torny branch of a dead blackberry bush is supported by a steel rope. They remind me of the cursed ground and the chains of bondage to sin.

Isa 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

The blackberries were sprayed with brush killer. They hang on the ropes of the guard rails looking like imprisoned souls in a concentration camp. The good news is that Jesus Christ has set the captives free and removed the curses.

Gal 3:11  But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Gal 3:13  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Looking up at the trees, some of the limbs are bent seeking the sun light. This tree has a 90 degree angle like a framing square.

Isa 40:25  To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
Isa 40:26  Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
