Oak Street Pond

Click on the pictures to enlarge them.

This pond is adjacent to homes with fenced yards. A walk along the trail is greeted with the barking of dogs. The dogs had not yet barked when I spotted this Canadian Goose asleep floating under the mid afternoon sun. He was soon wakened as the dogs behind the fences barked at me, the intruder.

Psa 4:8  I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

 The green moss in the pool has these bridges looking like a path through a Japanese tea garden.

Pro 12:28  In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

I was using the telephoto mirror lens as I spotted dragonflies. This one is green.

Dragonflies lay their eggs in water, and when the larvae hatch, they live underwater for up to two years. Actually, depending on the altitude and latitude, some species may stay in the larval state for up to six years. They'll molt up to 17 times as they grow and get ready to head to the surface and transform into the dragonflies we see in the air.

A black and white dragonfly, with wings looking like racing flags. The rings from the water is one flaw of the mirror lens as it turns highlights on the water into "lifesaver" rings. The racing dragonfly was only pausing before taking flight again leaving behind his perching stick.

Heb 12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

 A blue dragonfly.

Dragonflies can fly in any direction, including sideways and backward, and can hover in a single spot for a minute or more. This amazing ability is one factor in their success as aerial ambush predators — they can move in on unsuspecting prey from any direction.

Rev 20:1  And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Rev 20:2  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

Poppies grow near a fence. These are Californians state flower and I love them.

Song 2:12  The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;
Song 2:13  The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.
