A Sure Foundation

Last year a lovely two story home was built facing the river near the bridge. It was well back from the river, but the river is at an all time high now. I am hoping that the home was built on a solid foundation. A good foundation is very important but so many have nothing to stand on.

Job 22:15  Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?
Job 22:16  Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:
Job 22:17  Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?

  A lot of water is pouring out of Shasta Dam and the river us running fast and wide. My foundation is God Almighty, who made all from nothing and who is everlasting.

Psa 102:25  Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
Psa 102:26  They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
Psa 102:27  But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

There is a rock facade, that is facing the river water. Like this home, we must have more than an appearance of a solid foundation, it is the hidden foundation that matters.

Luk 6:46  And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Luk 6:47  Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
Luk 6:48  He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
Luk 6:49  But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Unexpectedly the home is put to the test as the river waters wash away everything that is not on a good foundation.

1Co 3:10  According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
1Co 3:11  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

I pray that the home will be undamaged by the river of adversity. When the river of adversity surrounds us, we too will be tested as to our foundation. Jesus is my foundation.

Eph 2:18  For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Eph 2:19  Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Eph 2:20  And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Eph 2:21  In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
Eph 2:22  In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Hawk eye

To say that one has eyes like a hawk means that they see everything. Hawks do have keen eyesight. This one purposely flew over my shoulder as I was out near the bird feeder. He wanted the birds, not the seeds. There is one greater than the hawk and that is our creator. God sees everything, even the hidden thoughts of man.

Heb 4:13  Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

The Red Shouldered Hawk eyes me from the Persimmon tree. In politics a hawk is one who is wanting to go to war. I have seen dove feathers scattered in the yard as a reminder of a predator hawk. The dove is a peace loving bird, symbolic of the Holy Spirit. I will not go so far as to call the hawk the adversary, or the devil. They are beautiful birds. To prevent war we need strength and wisdom. A strong nation is a safer nation. Our nation needs to be united and trusting in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Mat 12:25  And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

Isa 31:5  As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.

The hawk looks over his shoulder perhaps at his bigger cousin.

High in a Sycamore tree a Turkey Vulture was drying his wings.

Northern California has so much rain that our Park is flooded and closed.

Mat 5:43  Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
Mat 5:44  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Mat 5:45  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
