Soul Mates

On the south side pond there were two ducks this morning. A domestic Peking duck and a wild female Mallard. They were mated together, we would call them soul mates.

Son 1:4  Take me with you. Let's run away. The king took me into his room. We will rejoice and be happy for you. Remember, your love is better than wine. With good reason, the young women love you.
Son 1:5  Daughters of Jerusalem, I am dark and beautiful, as black as the tents of Kedar and Salma.

The white duck leads the way leaving the pond and coming towards me on the bridge for a crust of bread. Nope, not from me.

Son 3:11  Women of Zion, come out and see King Solomon. See the crown his mother put on him the day he was married, the day he was so happy!

The pond is like a mirror this morning.

1Co 13:12... Now we see God as if we are looking at a reflection in a mirror. But then, in the future, we will see him right before our eyes. Now I know only a part, but at that time I will know fully, as God has known me.

Another view of the mighty oak tree that fell. It's limbs dance and reach out to glorify the LORD.

Isa 55:12  For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

These tall Cottonwood trees grow with the native Valley Oaks.

The Button willow flowers are blooming like a flowered pin cushion.

Looking up the name of this flower showed me that there are thousands of flower types. Hundreds that are pink. I will call it a Lilac, until I know better.

One last look at the Soul Mates as they swim and follow me as I head home again.

Gen 29:18  Jacob loved Rachel, so he said to Laban, "I will work seven years for you if you will allow me to marry your daughter Rachel."

8 PM Walk

I like the longer July days where it is still light at 8 PM. It is warm, but not 100+ as it was earlier in the day. My old familiar trail has been my place of prayer and meditation.

Mar 1:35  And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
Mar 1:36  And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
Mar 1:37  And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

A landmark oak tree has fallen, being uprooted from much rain and wind. I had used this as a setting for portraits, the tree standing alone added strength to the pictures. Years of growth had the tree limbs twisted as they sought the light. It's bones now lay beside the path as a fallen reminder of it's greatness, reminding me of the bones of a dinosaur in a museum. It will grow no more.

Rev 2:4  Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Rev 2:5  Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

An oak tree covered with lichens has endured many storms being in the protection of a dense forest of trees. Lichens are formed by a combination of algae and fungi. They are a food source for deer. Some lichens are used in making antibiotics.

A torny branch of a dead blackberry bush is supported by a steel rope. They remind me of the cursed ground and the chains of bondage to sin.

Isa 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

The blackberries were sprayed with brush killer. They hang on the ropes of the guard rails looking like imprisoned souls in a concentration camp. The good news is that Jesus Christ has set the captives free and removed the curses.

Gal 3:11  But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Gal 3:13  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Looking up at the trees, some of the limbs are bent seeking the sun light. This tree has a 90 degree angle like a framing square.

Isa 40:25  To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
Isa 40:26  Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

Baked Brain

This lizard is like me on this hot day. I have not walked in the park in five months. and it is the usual 100+ Summer heat.

Looking at the tree bark, the mid sees images. Maybe it is just the heat?

Jer 17:9  "Nothing can hide its evil as well as the human mind. It can be very sick, and no one really understands it.
Jer 17:10  But I am the LORD, and I can look into a person's heart. I can test a person's mind and decide what each one should have. I can give each person the right payment for what they do.

The geese are back, grazing grass in the shade of the old oak trees.

Jer 17:7  But those who trust in the LORD will be blessed. They know that the LORD will do what he says.
Jer 17:8  They will be strong like trees planted near a stream that send out roots to the water. They have nothing to fear when the days get hot. Their leaves are always green. They never worry, even in a year that has no rain. They always produce fruit.

Close to the ponds grows the Marsh Marigolds. This one has a skipper butterfly gathering nectar.

Pro 10:5  A son who works hard while it is harvest time will be successful, but one who sleeps through the harvest is worthless.

Most pictures of dragonflies show that they have four wings. This one kept his wings together. Maybe he didn't want hot buffalo wings? Or is that another kind of hot? Looking up the name I found that it is called a Blue Dasher. They eat insects including mosquitos. They are a good thing to have around.
