We Need Water

The clouds look like rain, but we are still needing more rain to end our drought.

Job 5:7  But man is born unto trouble, As the sparks fly upward.
Job 5:8  But as for me, I would seek unto God, And unto God would I commit my cause;
Job 5:9  Who doeth great things and unsearchable, Marvellous things without number:
Job 5:10  Who giveth rain upon the earth, And sendeth waters upon the fields;
Job 5:11  So that he setteth up on high those that are low, And those that mourn are exalted to safety.

The Oak tree begins to bud, awakening from the winter sleep.

Jos 24:23  Now therefore put away, said he, the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto Jehovah, the God of Israel.
Jos 24:24  And the people said unto Joshua, Jehovah our God will we serve, and unto his voice will we hearken.
Jos 24:25  So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.
Jos 24:26  And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God; and he took a great stone, and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of Jehovah.

A trip to an old fishing place shows me that we are still low of water. The boat launching ramp is far from the trickle of water. This place was getting choked with water weeds, so maybe this will make it better once the water returns? I recently bought a rowboat to go fishing, but where's the water? On another note, people were refreshed last night in our Bible study from hearing the word of God presented in a grand way. One person commented, "I feel refreshed." The water of the word of God refreshes the hearer, we need it to survive.

John 15:3  Already ye are clean because of the word which I have spoken unto you.
John 15:4  Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me.

Stopping on the bridge over the once thriving waterway, I see a pond with one expert fisher. When I go fishing I lose a lot of lures on all those snags in the water. It takes skill to fish, but primarily we are to be fishers of men.

Mat 4:18  And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishers.
Mat 4:19  And he saith unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Mat 4:20  And they straightway left the nets, and followed him.

Where's Randy?

For weeks Randy, the wounded goose, has been missing from the park pond. Was he a meal for the homeless seeking refuge at the park? The wild goose "cranes" his neck; is he looking for his cousin Randy?

As I walked over the footbridge by the second pond the mallard duck was only concerned with preening his feathers. Like most of us, we are more concerned with our own daily tasks.

Rom 8:10  And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the spirit is life because of righteousness.
Rom 8:11  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwelleth in you, he that raised up Christ Jesus from the dead shall give life also to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Rom 8:12  So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh:

As I walked around to the river  I SAW RANDY! The river did not have all the kids and dogs that were always active in the green grass near the park pond. How special to see my old friend of three years again.

Randy swims into the river and it isn't like the pond, it has motion and it carries him along past the water plants, like Moses when he was in his ark basket.

Randy floats far away into the river. Is this the last we will see of him? I think of many who get into the river of life who are carried away into some future place, often not the best place for them. This got me to thinking about our need to be focused on the best things. What is worth giving all of our life and attention too. What gift do you need to bring to completion?

Php 3:8  Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ,
Php 3:9  and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, even that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:
Php 3:10  that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death;
Php 3:11  if by any means I may attain unto the resurrection from the dead.
Php 3:12  Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus.
Php 3:13  Brethren, I count not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before,
Php 3:14  I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Php 3:15  Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal unto you:

Kneaded and needed

I was out of bread, so I thought I would make some honey wheat bread. It had to be kneaded from 10-15 minutes. As the bread became soft in my hands I squeezed out a face in the bread. I thought, wow, the Lord could have fashioned us like this. Thumbs making the eyes, fingers shaping the features.

Isa 64:8  But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Our faces are all different and yet fashioned by the Lord. Somehow these bread faces are looking old? This makes me think of the movie stars that have plastic surgery to look beautiful. What of the hearts of these beautiful looking people? They need a new heart too, after the likeness of Jesus.

Eze 36:26  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
Eze 36:27  And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Let's be happy, for we are the work of the masters hands for his good pleasure.

Php 2:13  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Php 2:14  Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
Php 2:15  That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Php 2:16  Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

The bread was meant to be a loaf, but not a loafer. We are to be busy about the work the Lord has for us.

Rom 12:9  Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
Rom 12:10  Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Rom 12:11  Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
Rom 12:12  Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

If we fulfill his purpose for us,. we will be happy indeed.

Psa 146:5  Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:

Php 2:1  If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
Php 2:2  Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
