Cute and Cuddly - June 29, 2007

The Jack Rabbit was far away, as I spotted him in the blended grass. He saw and heard me and leaped away into the brush.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Early morning and the beavers are cuddling in the pond. One even is wearing a necklace. There is affection even among the animals.

Rom 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

A peaceful swim in the green water. Follow the leader.

Mat 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

The young Mallard ducks find refuge in the cattails. The young are always cute and gentle.
Psa 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Psa 91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. Psa 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler

Swallowtail - June 28, 2007

There was one Silver Thistle blooming. I focused on the flower and suddenly from out of nowhere, the Lord brought a Two Tailed Swallowtail to the flower; that was amazing. Did he not send the Osprey with fish overhead to me two days ago? Elijah was fed by the Ravens that God sent to him. God directs the creation.

1 Ki 17:3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
1 Ki 17:4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

The Thistle is one of it's favorite nectar food. It also likes Milkweed, California Buckeye and Lilacs. My mother had a lilac bush and several of these butterflies would enjoy the fragrant nectar. I can still see her gathering a bouquet to put in a vase for us to take home.

Psa 119:103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Psa 119:104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

The Butterfly stayed on the Thistle long enough for me to make a dozen pictures as it moved around the flower. I believe that God does control nature, he can send a butterfly. He can send us too.

Isa 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Isa 6:9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
Isa 6:10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
Isa 6:11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,
Isa 6:12 And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.

The Tiger Swallowtail is found on the East Coast. The two Tailed Swallowtail ranges from Western North America south from British Columbia, east to central Nebraska and central Texas, south through Mexico.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

A most beautiful creature on this mid day walk. I would hope that the Lord favored me and does care about the small things.

Psa 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

Look Up, Look Up! - June 26, 2007

The turtle looks up and he sees something. I had walked past one pond and as I was returning to the first pond on a short walk. In the distance I saw an osprey diving, but I missed seeing what it was diving after.

Jer 8:7 Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.

Wow! I quickly aimed , tried to focus and make a picture of this unusual site. An Osprey, or fish hawk, with it's catch. The osprey weighs from 3 to 4.5 lbs. The body is about 20 inches long with a wingspan of about five feet.

Hosea 4:3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

The Osprey had a bass in it's talons almost as big as he was. It must have weighed almost as much as he did, what strength and majesty this bird has. The normal catch is a half pound up to one and a half pounds. This may have exceeded that weight.

Mat 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

What a marvelous thing to see. Who would have believed this, but we see it as it was. Some do tricks, this was no trick picture.

Prov 30:18 There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:
Prov 30:19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.

The White Egret saw me approaching and flew to a distant shore. She came in for a graceful landing. What a morning of surprises. Look up and see the wonders around you.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Acts 1:10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Dark and Light - June 25, 2007

The sunlight outlines these tree limbs. I see a scythe, a grim reaper? Also a needle and thread.

Gal 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Mat 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

The mule deer gets it's name from it's long ears. The rump is white with a black tail.

Mat 5:36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
Mat 5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

It was 6:30 in the early morning when I spotted this beaver swimming with his mouth holding bulrushes.

18:2 That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!

The evening primrose is blooming in the early morning. It closes when the full sun shines on it. The entire plant is an edible herb.

Luke 21:37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.
Luke 21:38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

The Jimsonweed is an hallucinogenic plant. The plant is as a narcotic and has been known to kill cattle. The beautiful trumpet flower is lovely to see.

Rev 8:12 And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.

Rev 8:13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!

Intruding on Peace - June 23, 2007

A duck is away from it all on a tiny island. She dutifully sits on her one egg. If we are busy, we are at peace.

Prov 27:8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.

Hab 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

It was a lightly overcast Friday afternoon, about five, when I visited the park. The Green Heron usually would fly before I could get his picture. Today he was a little different, maybe weary from the summer heat? Maybe hungry and apprehensive, because the park would soon be crowded with people for the weekend? Better get what he can to eat, while there is time.

A blackbird startles him and he shows his anger and fear.

Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.

At the end the pond, a special moment when a lone deer comes for a drink. A peaceful moment for him and for us to see.

A closer look. The deer do not like to be around the noise and erratic movements of the humans with their children and dogs.

Psa 42:1 To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

Here comes someone for a walk at the end of the day. The Tree Swallows make a rare appearance together. She walks through them as they scatter and hunt for insects on the lake surface.

1 Ki 14:15 For the LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.

Hundreds of tiny Water Striders are hatched out in the pond. The walk and swim on the surface of the water, on tiny hairs on their legs that do not soak up water.

Mat 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
Mat 14:26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
Mat 14:27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

Winged Insects - June 19, 2007

In the heat of summer, around the pond there is life,
if you look for it.
Another new butterfly for me to identify. The closest match was called: California Sisters. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are to pray one for the other.

Job 42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
Job 42:11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.
Job 42:12 So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning:

The Pipe vine Swallowtail has his straw (proboscis) in the mud sipping water. There are many pipe vines at the park.

Mat 10:41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
Mat 10:42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

The backside of the Pipe vine butterfly. I spent a lot of time waiting for him to open his wings. There were two together. When they drink they close their wings. I would wave my foot and they would fly and land and quickly close their wings. They were weary of my foot waving, to the point that I could easily have stepped on them. They got used to me.

Psa 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Psa 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Psa 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

I had seen hundreds of varieties of dragonflies, in my searching on the Internet, so I was looking for a new kind. I found this new one to me, one of a kind, called the Western Meadowhawk.
Isa 45:4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.
Isa 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast
There are hundreds of varieties of dragonflies, so I looked for a new one. This is the Western Meadowhawk. He was one of a kind.not known me:
Isa 45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

A pair of Blue Dashers. I noticed that the flying insects were often in pairs.

Mat 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Not So Blah Day - June 18, 2007

The Robin is busy gather material to make her nest.

Psa 84:2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
Psa 84:3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.
Psa 84:4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.

I thought I would see rabbits today, but there was not much to see, or perhaps there was, for those who look closer? I learn something every time I go for a walk. This small butterfly landed on the moist sand for a drink. I searched for his name and found it. A Duskywing butterfly. http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/gallery
John 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
John 15:21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
John 15:22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

A close up detail picture of the Blue Dasher Dragonfly.

Psa 91:10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
Psa 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
Psa 91:12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

A Mallard duck was peacefully gliding on the pond when two domestic ducks charged at it. The result was a tremendous upward thrust.

2 Tim 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Tim 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2 Tim 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Tim 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

The Robin is still collecting material for her nest. She is pulling on nylon fishing line that is caught on one end.

1 Cor 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1 Cor 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
1 Cor 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1 Cor 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Buzzing and Fluttering - June 15, 2007

Isa 7:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

The paper wasp built a nest on the eaves of our house, just outside the front door. What a beautiful design God has given them to build. The hexagon shape resembles the honey comb. Here the eggs are left to develop. The wasps eat nectar and feed the young caterpillars. Eat your spinach, it's good for you...?

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

A honey bee enjoys seeking nectar from the wild Monkey flowers.

Deu 6:3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

What have we here? A back seat driver? Let Jesus be Lord and Master of your life.

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
John 11:27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

The sun shines through the dragonfly wings, as through stained glass.

James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Awkward, landing, but he is holding on.

1 Tim 1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

Inspiration - June 8, 2007

How often are we aware of angels in our presence? I have called out in time of need and been saved from a collision or two. The voice that spoke to me in the hospital bed, was it an angel?

Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Troubled times ahead and even our end to this physical life. But, the angels carry us to the presence of the Lord. No matter if we are in troubles or passing through Jordan to the other side, God is with is.

Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Heb 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Now, more than ever before, we need to hold fast to sound doctrine. For people are turning away to false hope and entertainment.

2 Tim 1:13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
2 Tim 1:14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

Man is flawed by sin. We fear the crime and violence of mankind, and the animals fear us. We should fear God and trust him.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

Verses - June 7, 2007

This is often called a buzzard, but we have no buzzards in California. It is a Turkey Vulture. It's red face resembles the color of a turkey. A young lady was walking by where a vulture was gliding, she stopped and as I went by she said I am afraid of the bird. When I left my yard a bird dove down and pecked my head, it was a small bird protecting iy's nest. But what if this bird were to dive at me? I told her not to worry, that the small birds dive at him too.

Luke 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Luke 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

A dear friend who was treated very bad as a child, recalled looking at the birds and saying: they are so free, look how they fly so high.

2 Sam 22:7 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.
2 Sam 22:8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.
2 Sam 22:9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
2 Sam 22:10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.
2 Sam 22:11 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.
2 Sam 22:12 And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.
2 Sam 22:13 Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled.
2 Sam 22:14 The LORD thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice.

Can we rejoice in the simple things? God made the birds and all creation and he said that they were good. Do we see with His eyes the good around us and dwell on the good things? All have been hurt, but let us not dwell on the bad, but the good.

Luke 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.Luke 6:23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

I often would marvel at the tiny Swallows who would fly swiftly above the river after the rain. One morning the Lord had them come close to a bush. They flew in and out, so many. I removed all but these three who looked so perfect. I first saw these birds when I would walk and pray for people in great danger, online. God even allows the bad at times so that we will seek him.

Isa 8:7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
Isa 8:8 And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

Isa 8:13 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

One peaceful morning the Blue Heron was in an unusual place, perhaps the Lord arranged this meeting.

James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
James 5:8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
James 5:9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
James 5:10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
James 5:11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
